On December 19, 2008 Pat and I became great grandparents.
Our oldest grand daughter Lindsey and her husband Bryce had a baby.
His name is Connor Dale Bailes.
Of course he is sharp and smart and beautiful (even though he looks more like his Dad than he does his Mom).
On January 7, 2009 at 6:56 p.m. I got the following text message from Lindsey:
Hey! Connor went to the dr the other day and has heart murmur.
If if doesn't go away by month 2 he has to see cardiologist.
Could u add him to the prayer chain?
I texted her back and told her that Grandma and I would both be praying for him and I would add him to the prayer chain.
I sent in the request to the email prayer chain at the Vineyard Church.
The next day Bob Froelich and I made a hospital visit and I talked to him about Connor.
He and I agreed in prayer that Connor would be fine.
Yesterday, Lindsey and Connor came to see us.
Lindsey told us that Connor is fine, he's been to the doctor, and the heart murmur is gone.
Below are a couple of pictures.
The first is one that Lindsey took with her cell phone at the hospital right after Connor was born.
She sent it to me on my cell phone.
That's how she notified us of his birth.
The second one was taken at one month (about the time she requested prayer).
Lindsey is 22 years old.
She is by no means a Pentecostal or Apostolic type Christian.
She has some pretty strange beliefs she has picked up over the years.
But, a few years ago she made a remark that I have remembered and told to others. She said, "Anyone who doesn't believe in miracles doesn't know about our family." And that is true. Over the years we've seen things happen for which there is no other explanation than it had to be the intervention of God.
What an adorable little guy, Sam. I'm glad that God was gracious to him.
That statement that Lynsey made could apply to our family as well. In fact, my kid's pediatrician has said it to me many times - "Boy, if someone didn't believe in God or in miracles, they sure need to meet YOUR family!" She tells me she's never known a family who has experienced more miracles. And we are soooooooooooooooooooo grateful!! (As I'm sure you are too )
