Praise The Lord from Iowa

My name is Chris Becker, I'm 49 years old, from California, but currently living in Flood City 2008 (Cedar Rapids.) I come from a Pentecostal background, largely Foursquare and A/G, but spent my high school years in a UPC church and school in San Francisco. I'm still proud of my Apostolic roots, but I haven't attended an Apostolic church since the 1970s. It's kinda hard to explain.

I miss the good old days (or at least MY good old days) of Pentecost. I miss the music. I'm sick of all these Integrity! Hosanna and Hillsong praise and worship choruses. I want to hear a worship leader sing Are You Washed in The Blood with a hard Pentecostal 4/4 beat. I miss Sisters with dresses and no make-up, and beehive hairdos. I miss people showing up to church with a Bible in one hand, and a tambourine in the other. Guess I may have to take a road trip to St Louis or Chicago to visit my good friends Richie and Dennis Mostyn.

Welcome to the Forum.

If you were to go to an Apostolic Church this weekend, you would probably hear those same songs you're tired of hearing. Many of them are singing those "off the wall" songs. Songbooks have gone the way of the horse collar, high button shoes, the beehive hairdo, and the wind up victrola.

Chris,
My father lived in Iowa as a child. He called it Ioway.

I remember as a kid hearing a song on the radio that said something about:

Ioway, Ioway, out where the tall corn grows.......

WElcome, Chris! I'm in Nebraska, so we're neighbors, somewhat!
