Waiting for the Freezing Rain

Well, schools let out at noon today, because the weathermen said that the freezing rain and sleet would be here by 3 pm at the latest. Here it is almost 10 pm and it's not here yet. I went to Kroger and stocked up on groceries; it was a madhouse there. We got lots of gas for the generator, which has never been used, BTW.

Now we are just waiting and waiting and waiting to see if it really happens. They are predicting lots of broken power lines and tree limbs falling. I think it is heading in from Memphis, but it will be sometime during the night now. They aren't saying MAYBE, but it IS COMING.

Re: Waiting for the Freezing Rain

We never get exciting storms like that here in Ca. Sometimes we get a lot of rain(at one time) and it gets foggy-
But nothing we have to go stock up supplies just in case of anything--I think that would be exciting!

I know that sounds weird, but the weather doesn't change very drastically in Ca at all-rain is even rare.

Re: Waiting for the Freezing Rain

I have icicles on my car, they have been there all day. Hasn't got above 32* since this morning. And last night I had the a/c on. Thankfully my husband turned it off this morning and turned on the heat. It is just cold.

Re: Waiting for the Freezing Rain

Jamie and I are in Branson taking the week off and we're supposed to wake up to between 2-4" of snow tommorrow morning. It'd be nice to actually see that much snow on the ground and make it seem more "Christmasy". So since we've no place to go....let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

You guys stay safe in the ice. That stuff is awful and dangerous.

Sherri, when that icy rain gets there, keep it there. We don't want it here!

Re: Waiting for the Freezing Rain

This morning it was "0" and man was it cold. The wind blew so hard it almost blew the hair off your head, mine was standing straight out in front of me. The sun was shining, but it was forevermore cold!!!!!! It's supposed to snow tonight after midnight, but we'll see. We've had one small snow and it was gone by the next day. Actually, here in Bennington, it was gone before it started really, but in Salina, it stayed til the next day and the sun shone on it.

I HATE cold weather!!!!!!!
