Bridge City, Tx

Some may not realize the town of Bridge City was hit extremely hard by hurricane Ike.

My neighbor told me this week he went to help a friend of his that lives in Bridge City and had 4 or 5" of sludge in his house from the flooding. He killed 81 water mocassions and had 5 alligators in his home.

Our church saturday fed over a 1,000 people a hot meal that they have not had in weeks. Folks were crying and so thankful.

They said these people have lost everything. ALL their belongings are piled up in front of the street, nothing left.

We are going to feed them again and this time we are also going to have a "free" garage sale, minus the "sale".

I hope this comes together as well as we hope for the needs of these many people.

I am sooooooo thankful God spared me from this kind of disaster.

What a great witness. That community will certainly know you all by your love. I believe that that is exactly how God intended it to be.

What a blessing to be able to help. You will be greatly rewarded for your charity.

I agree Bro. Tstew.

Didn't He say if you have two coats and your brother has none to give him one of yours?

Yes, Sometimes we do need to be reminded of this. We often try to get known and noticed for so many other things that we forget that it is our love for others that is supposed to be one of our principle distinguishing marks.

Re: Bridge City, Tx

This is definitely a ministry of the church. I have a friend that lives in Orange- Their house was spared, but she has shared with me the plight of the people of Bridge City. The Church in Alexandria( POA ) has sent 2 18 wheelers to the area churches filled with supplies. The Bridge City church not only helped their Church members but opened it up to the community handed out supplies. This area is in real need and it is not being covered by the media.

Praise the Lord, Esther. What a great way to show God's love.

No the media won't cover this nor will they cover the good that Christians do for the needy, the ones helping are demonstrating their faith in Christ by their deeds.
Faith without works is a dead faith.

It's crazy, but that's just the way the news is. If something happens to a big town or a town that everybody is familiar with, it becomes sensational news (kind of like when something happens with people who are already household names). In all fairness though, I think Bridge City has less than 10,000 people. Those stories tend to get lost. Even during Katrina there were a bunch of smaller cities in Missississippi that were making the same complaint. I guess that whenever people see destruction on such a grand scale it captures their attention.
