Did God command the Israelites to make him burnt offerings?

God commanded the Israelites to make him burnt offerings.
Exodus 8:27
We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to the LORD our God, as he shall command us.

God did not ask for any burnt offerings.
Jeremiah 7:22
For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices.

Can anyone answer my question.I'm trying to figure out what kind of God would exalt himself by desiring worship and tell us to be humble? What kind of God would tell us not to kill but kill himself ? What kind of God would be jealous to desire worship? Why would a God want worship ? Jealousy is bad and kills. What kind of love does this ? What kind of God would kill out of anger, wrath. To be honest with you it don't scare me to be killed by God but it scares the bee honey out of me to think we have a God like this.Did man write all of this to try and make us be good little boys and girls?

I'll tell you what I think. The same as we have today many people saying they are saved filled with the Holy Ghost and God is teaching them truth but they are all speaking different teachings.I think we had these people from the beginning of time.God really didn't tell them alot of things but they wrote it down and we take it as gospel truth.God don't teach one person one thing and someone else something different.God is truth and in him is no lie.I think it is alot easer explaining the divine then man.The divine speakes truth and gives understanding and carnal man speaks perverting and has very little understanding.I think there are many things in the bible that carnal man wrote when they thought they were God inspired and were not.So the bottom line is i think all though time we have had people leaning on their own understanding rather then God's.That's what i think.

Thank God your thoughts are not God's word.

That was out to lunch! Wow.

Joelel, if you perceive any contradiction in God's character, it is because you are man and He is God. There you go. Simple as that.

We need a sub-forum called "Deep End."

There are 29 generations listed from David to Jesus in Matthew's genealogy, while Luke's (3:23-31) has 43. Except for David at one end and Jesus at the other, there are only three names in the two lists that are the same. 1:6-16

Jesus curses a fig tree and the tree dies immediately But in Mark's gospel (11:14, 20-21) the cursed fig tree doesn't die until the next morning. 21:19-20

Re: Did God ever command or desire praise or worsh

Do Christians sin? Yes or no ?

No one is without sin.
1 Kings 8:46
There is no man that sinneth not.

2 Chronicles 6:36
There is no man which sinneth not.

Ecclesiastes 7:20
For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
1 John 1:8
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1 John 1:10
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Christians are sinless.
(And so are some non-christians.)

Romans 5:14
Death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned.

1 John 3:6
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not.

1 John 3:9
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 John 5:18
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not.

3 John 11
He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

Re: Did God ever command or desire praise or worsh

Joelel,

They are two different lineages. One traces Jesus' physical lineage through Mary, the other traces His adopted lineage through Joseph.

As for the difference in generations...you understand that one man can have one son at 40, and never have another, while another man can have a son at 20, who bears the grandson at 20, and who bears the great-grandson at age 20...therefore one man lives to bring in 2 generations, and another has brought about 4 in the same timeframe.
