Is Holiness More Than A Departure From Sin?

For the Christian who is Holy Ghost filled, is Holiness more than a departure from sin?

Re: Is Holiness More Than A Departure From Sin?

Holiness is a quality of being holy,to me holiness is a result of the Holy Ghost working in a person's life. One can be moral and live a clean lifestyle and still not be holy.
There are non-believers who live a moral life, who haven't placed saving faith in Jesus Christ,so can one really have holiness without having The Holy Spirit ?

The grace of God that bringeth salvation teaches Holiness.
So Holiness to me is a working of the Holy Ghost in a believer's life.

The question is concerning the life of a Holy Ghost filled Christian.

Like for you Scott, is holiness more than a departure from sin?

Yes holiness is more than just a departure from sin,Holiness is living a life surrended to the Lordship of Christ,it's more about quality of relationship, than rules an regulations.

Re: Is Holiness More Than A Departure From Sin?

Holiness means separation:
1. Separation from Man and God [contrary to secular humanism]
2. Separation in speech [use of cursings from youth to government officials, and even loosley in our own pulpits]
3. Separation between man and animals. Man and animals are not equal. PETA describes the barbecuing of chickend to be comparable to Haulocast on a plate. Again secular humanism and devlauation of the status of men.
4. Separation of the sexes in dress and sexuality. Men and women dress differently and before the Bible homosexuality across cultures was a common practice, but remember the Old Testament law defined sin, and the New testament did away with homosexuality as well as poligamy. Men are to be heterosexual and faithful to one wife.

well if you didn't surrender, it means you would be disobedient and in sin, right?

Or do you mean something else?

Rhoni,
Can you explain what you mean in point 1?

How does point 3 tie into holiness?

Holiness by definition means "separation". Secular Humanism says we are God's and in control of our own destinies. Man is not God. Separation.

Re: Is Holiness More Than A Departure From Sin?

Holiness comes from being borned again, one can live a moral lifestyle and still be a sinner, because they haven't passed from death unto life.
If one hasn't surrended to The Lordship of Christ, and if one isn't regenerated yes they are in sin.
