Obama's Dad - 8 Children By 4 Different Women
I just read a Times of London story with a dateline of July 27 and was surprised in it to find out that Barak Obama's father had 8 children by 4 different women before his death in 1982.
Two of the women were American and one of them is Barak's mother. The other American womans son is named Mark and he lives in China dealing with exports to the USA. He is American educated though and has a Masters degree. Obama speaks about him in his 1995 book.

Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I am glad that Obama is much more grounded-- a morally upstanding guy.
Or is the word "outstanding"?

Hmmm... I was thinking "opportunistic".
I don't believe a career as a "community organizer", a short stint in the Illinois state legislature, and then two years in the Senate mostly voting absent qualifies one to be President.
However if you are a good orator and can appeal to white guilt you have a great shot at overcoming not having a resume.

One of my Dad's uncles has 36 children from 3 different women. What's yer point?

I found it interesting that he has 7 siblings when I have never heard anything about them in the mainstream media.
Usually a canidates family is at least noted, talked about, and shown.
Sounds like it could be interesting Thanksgiving and Christmas's at the White House if all of the brothers and sisters show up!

WOW!
You don't think that possibly the people who are supporting him aren't supporting him out of guilt, but out of their desire to really see if someone different could do things in a better way?
Man there aren't that many guilty white folks left!

There are plenty of liberal white people in America with lots of guilt. As a Canadian you may not see that as readily as those of us here.
Those that consider higher taxes and socialism a "better way" certainly support Obama out of heartfelt belief.
Those that believe nominating liberal activist judges to the Federal bench and the Supreme Court are a preferred "different way" will certainly vote for him.
Those that want someone whose judgement caused him to oppose the surge in Iraq that turned the tide and has brought relative peace to that country and who would have caused Iraq and much of the Middle East to have gone up in flames with a hasty retreat and no surge will certainly support him.
In other words he is a great canidate for Europe where most are socialist and pacifist and used to being taxed beyond belief.

Maybe if one of them starts his own beer brand we will hear more about them.  I have read somewhere about his cousing being part of the violence that is going on in Kenya. Does that count?

NEWS FLASH! Taxes will have to increase, and that by a whole lot, in order to pay off the new housing bill and the two wars currently being waged.
He was wrong on the surge. We agree. However, he was never one to call for a hasty withdrawal of all combat troops. He has been clear in his words about that. I do not consider a 16 or 17 month phased withdrawal to be hasty at all.
Furthermore, he has always supported the idea of leaving troops behind for training and security-- but the Repubs don't focus on that part of his strategies.
