Does God hear/answer/care about these types of prayers?
Quote:
Tonight is the first time I've seen the gals sing. Melinda Doolittle did awesome!! She definitely lets her "light" shine; she doesn't dress sleazy or flirty; just sings and seems real. You could see her mom was praying in the audience. That first gal was good and really cute, but definitely went for the sex appeal.
This post was made on the American Idol thread. Doesn't matter who made it, I just wonder if you think God really listens to these prayers? It's sorta like watching an NFL game and seeing the guy with the Bud Light bottle between his "praying hands", asking that the field goal be good to win the game.
My belief: God could care less about these things. Sure, He might will something to happen in these situations , but it won't be for someone to necessarily win anything. He knows the heart of the pray-er. It would seem most of those hearts are simply asking God to fulfill a selfish desire.
Eh?

Ignorance of the Identity of the One True God is not a valid reason to practice idolatry.

Well, since I made the original comment, I will say YES, God does care. I don't like the term "American Idol" in the least, but I think a Christian in this position can be a light to the world. I think they can pray for the favor of God in their performances. I don't see why not!

I agree with you to a large extent ... like about 97.8%. Maybe could even up that a bit.

But then I don't even watch it much. So I don't know who the people are or what kind of people they are.
I don't think the in the whole scheme of things God cares much about who wins American or Canadian Idol unless it has something to do with His will and purpose being fulfilled in some way in the life of one of the individual contestants or in some other way.
Otherwise, has nothing at all to do with God. IMO. And off the top of my head.

It depends on what the prayer is. If it is help me to do my best and let my light shine, then, yes God hears/answers/cares. If it is help me to win so I can be rich and famous, well His answer will probably be no.

How do you know what she was praying about? Maybe she was merely thanking God that she has a daughter with talent, or thanking God for the opportunity. Who knows?

Not worth fussing over, but Felicity if you heard her sing and saw her sweet spirit you might understand a bit better. Church is definetly in this girl's life.
