What would it take for you to get back into the UPC???
What would it take for you to get back into the UPC?
For me it would take a paradim change in the culture brought on by a change in the attitudes and perceptions of the entire organization toward mandating and defining a corporate holiness.
It would take the church giving holiness back to the saints of the living God for me to get back to it.
What I said is not very easy to reconcile, it has roots going to China...
Honestly, I don't know that the UPC could do anything to get me back. Not that I think the UPC is the end time harlot.......far from it. My reasoning is that I have found that I can be far more effective in my commmunity being independent than I can being part of a group that I can be "pidgeon holed" with.
I would have to agree with Carp though, on a MAJOR paradigm shift when it comes to control and reaching the lost. I really hope I'm wrong, but I think the UPC's best days are behind her. I'm not criticizing anyone for staying in, if that is where they believe they can do the most good, then more power to them!

MOW, I think you are right. Perhaps the UPC has served its purpose and is now just in the self-perpetuation mode.
I was never licensed by the UPC so I am not speaking of licensing here but visiting and fellowship. Today I attended a funeral and afterward the pastor conducting it gave me his card. I had some thoughts recently about visiting that church some time. However, when I looked up the website I saw that the pastor is UPC and down inside I just have this feeling that I won't be going there. I am not judging him. He seems to be a good man, but there is just something about him being affiliated with that group.

I agree with MOW in feeling the best is behind and the reason is because the Lord spoke that to me about 5 years ago.
In many ways I still wish I was part and I'll say again that if I was living alone and in a community or city where there was a good UP church -- that is definitely where I'd attend. That's said from this point in time anyhow.
