Now you know why any preacher in Iowa has eventually MOVED.

Actually drift snow will build faster. For it blows all the way from Denver to Chicago with only a few powerlines in the way and as you see from the photos- the powerlines broke.

Having lived in 4 northern states , I've seen more snow in my lifetime than should be legal. I Hate snow. We should receive 2" on Christmas Eve and then it can melt on the 26th.

We too got a late season snow fall that nearly shut the city down for a day. They closed the three malls at noon. Trust me this does NOT happen. That was always the clue as to the storm severity...........malls DO NOT CLOSE.
I know Iowa got it worse than we did. I've lived in most of states surrounding IA, but never in IA. Maybe that's the reason.

Since I have lived in more than one bordering state...the local take on IOWA...

WOW now that is snow... the most snow I have seen at one time is about 20-24 inches. That was enough for anyone.

I could not live that far North.. Indiana has more than enough winter. I want to move South..

We had a mild winter until Feb and then it turned cold and had somewhat of a blizzard.. but nothing like that.

I scraped frost off my car to come to work this morning... not sure where Spring disapeared to... got warm for a few days, decided winter wasn't through... oh well.

I was in Omaha the day of that blizzard. When I left the plant in the afternoon, it had stopped snowing, so we decided to drive to the Bass Pro Shop in Council Bluffs, IA, which is right over the border.

I-80 in Omaha was in pretty decent shape, but it was closed in Iowa, so we turned around, lol. I thought, "Man, surely they get snow here once in a while, don't they know how to deal with it?"

But, apparently, it was even more than their plows could handle.
