Pushing or Praying?

Just wanted some weighing in on this subject.

Looking back over the years I have observed that the most awesome services and most changing were when we prayed, fasted and allowed God to do the work. He came in like a flood and oft times as gentle as a breeze.

I've seen the youth forced to come and pray, forced to worship and now I am wondering. Does pushing people change them? Do some need to be pushed? Does this play on their emotions and not really get to the heart of commitment?

Just wanting some thoughts on the subject.

You can push them right out the door!

Prayer and GOD gently tugging at them is better than pushing in my opinion.

Re: Pushing or Praying?

Pushing usually backfires, especially on kids. Unless the Spirit draws them it is not God it's man. Prayed over 20 yrs. for my husband to come to the Lord, took some verbal abuse for going to church. But I left a gospel tape in the car and he listened to How Great Thou Art on his way to work. That is when God started speaking to his heart. Prayer works sometimes later than sooner. But it still works.

So, you don't think that at any time you have to push the youth to live for God? I'm trying to wrap my brain around this. Maybe I am missing something.

Beautiful! When I stopped pushing my daughter God turned everything around.
