Brokeback Cowboy Dead

I just saw a newsflash on my computer saying that an actor named Heath Ledger was just found dead. He had played a cowboy in Brokeback Mountain who was gay. I read a recent article that said his career had nosedived after that role.

Could it be that the whole world doesn't buy into perversion?

This is the third young actor in three weeks found dead they said.

I'm not sure that the movie had anything to do with his career, it wasn't really that strong before the movie......he had a few decent roles, such as Mel Gibson's oldest son in "The Patriot", but he wasn't really a household name.

However, his counterpart, Jake Gyllenhall seems to be doing fine since the movie.

I'd say that it's the same plague, alcohol and drug use........so many young people are caught up in the riches and glitz and glamour of a famous lifestyle, and just can't handle the peer pressure. It's very sad.

High expectations also play a role in an actors mind., they think they oughta be like "soooo discovered" after one good role, but many times its a "one hitter" and they crash/burn., SAD indeed that such things occur, from a "fast-food" industry.
Yet another point for having more in ones life than "flash", ALL people everywhere, need to feed their hungry parched souls with 'substance' food that will last for an eternity!
JESUS fills all needs!

All it takes is one good overdose to kill you. He bought it in one day versus the frantic downward partying spiral that Britney and Lindsey are on.

The Patriot was an excellent movie by the way! I also look forward to seeing the next "Dark Knight" film this Summer that he stars in.

I don't think his death had anything to do with being in the movie.

You are incorrect about his career nosediving after that role. He plays the Joker in the upcoming Batman movie due out this summer.

He turned down many roles because he did not want to play them much to the consertnation of his agent, manager, and parents.

Sadly he battled drug addiction in recent years and his death does not seem to be a surprise to his friends from all the news reports I am hearing.

What is really intersting is that I just heard on CNN a reporter say he had interviewed him and Heath told the reporter that his role as the Joker was that of a "demonic" murderer and he was having trouble shaking off putting himself into that frame of mind (paraphrasing what was said).

My favorite role Heath played was in the great movie "The Patriot" with fellow Australian Mel Gibson. Every American school child should be required to watch that film.

Heath leaves a 2 year old daughter.
