Jim Jones- Oneness or NOT
I have seen it said this week that Jim Jones was at a oneness church in Indiana.
Does anyone have documentation?
The churches he started in California is NOT oneness at all. (They are still in existance)

I think the one you are talking about was non-denominational. As for as oneness I am not sure. I haven't read anything about him in a long time. It was referred to as a pentecostal church on the news.

I worked withaa lady who moved to the new work in Ukiah. When JJ went to Guyana, she was glad she had not gone.

Were the "Disciples of Christ" oneness? That was the orginazation he was in prior to his insanity.

He opened an independent church in Indiana in 1953.
He was ordained by the Disciples of Christ in 1964.

What Disciples Believe
Like most Christians, Disciples Affirm:
Jesus Christ is the son of the Living God,
All persons are God's children
Beliefs and practices usually associated with Disciples include:
Open Communion. The Lord’s Supper, or Communion is celebrated in weekly worship. It is open to all who believe in Jesus Christ.
Freedom of belief. Disciples are called together around one essential of faith: belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Persons are free to follow their consciences guided by the Bible, the Holy Spirit study and prayer, and are expected to extend that freedom to others.
Baptism by immersion. In baptism the old self-centered life is set aside, and a new life of trust in God begins. Although Disciples practice baptism by immersion, other baptism traditions are honored.
Belief in the oneness of the church. All Christians are called to be one in Christ and to seek opportunities for common witness and service.
The ministry of believers. Both ministers and lay persons lead in worship, service and spiritual growth.
This church is now called Christian Church.

The founder of Disciples of Christ was Presbyterian, the next leader was Baptist.

All I know is what my former pastor told us at the time...
JJ was approached by Bro. Urshan and other elders from Indian re his teaching...he told them they had limited themselves to JUST the Bible, but he followed the teaching of Father Divine as well.
I don't remember if he said JJ had been UPCI or if it was assumed...

There is a Rev. Jim Jones registerd at MySpace, 76 yrs. old. Location Jonestown Guyana.
