Negative Confessions

Can our words or thoughts be detrimental to our physical, mental and/or spiritual well being?

Pro 18:21 Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Pro 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so [is] he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart [is] not with thee.

"I'm worried to death...."

"I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired"

"All this work is drivin' me crazy."

"I think I'm tryin to catch a cold."
(Why TRY to take something you don't want?)

"Sittin' on this hard pew is killing me".

Are we speaking or thinking our way to sickness or spiritual defeat?

I think that teaching comes from Job saying the thing I feared the most has come upon me.

I'm still thinking of that bible study from last night, wouldn't these things fall under attitudes as well? The way you think about a thing determines your approach to it and can determine success or failure with it.

It all goes back to the Garden of Eden and TWO TREES. Life and death were in the Garden in the form of the two trees. These two trees continue until today.

But in Rev 22, only one tree is left! LIFE.

YES! I've preached that for years!

We get what we ask for. Doesn't the Bible say that?

Scripture is rife with references to people speaking things into existence by faith. If it works for the positive, it works for the negative!

Jesus walked by a fig tree one day and observed that it was not bearing fruit. He didn't curse it, he just made a negative observation. Soon thereafter the tree died.

In my opinion, we can bring life and death, sickness and health, poverty or prosperity (not obscene wealth as some believe), and a host of other situations, both good and bad, into our lives by the words we speak.

Yes. Absolutely YES.

Try an experiment...

Every time you have a negative thought or negative stuff comes out of your lips, as soon as you realize it, speak positively instead...

Try that for three days and see how much better you feel about life.

There will be a definite change in your emotional balance, outlook, and mannerism... your face may even lighten...

You do reap what you sow.

Just as you can't plant corn and reap wheat... You can't plant negativity and expect positive results...

Well, Im not real big on the positive/negative confession thing, but I think Ronzo (and others have a point. We can, and often do, affect the outcome of a task by entering it with a positive and confident attitude.

I sure hope we don't get everything we say, as some teach. I'd be crazy, sick and tired, with no wits at all, and I probably would've died a long time ago by saying some of the stuff I listed earlier!

What's in the heart comes out of the mouth. So if we changed our think'n our confessions will change!

Quote:
Mat 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
Quote:
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Quote:
Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Quote:
Jas 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. 11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? 12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
Folks, if we have the Holy Ghost, we can truthfully say when asked how we are, no matter the situation, it is well with my soul!

Ahh... that'll NEVER work for me.

That may be true for you but for me? Nothing good ever happens. My body is wracked with pain and I know for a fact that tomorrow it will be worse.

Nobody cares about me. Nobody wants to listen to me. I've got no money and probably don't even deserve the pop cans I can collect from the street. And tomorrow it gets worse.
