A Time to Rebel
Those whom we label patriots the British once called rebels.
The verse most often bandied about by certain conservative cliques is rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft 1 Samuel 15:23. The part not explained is the rebellion is against God, not man governed organizations.
Yes the pastor of the local assembly is to be honored, respected, and unless teaching directly contrary to the Word, followed. But when an organization places tradition on par with scripture, and then refuses to even allow discussion by young ministers how can they not expect either rebellion or mass exodus?

Re: A Time to Rebel
not to mention it was the King that rebelled against God because he thought he had a better way of dong things than God instructed him to do....ultimately losing his kingdom because of it.
another chopped up verse.

I freely admit to being agenda driven.
And although I have just begun to post I have been active behind the scenes for years.
As far as compare and contrast, HMH is an attempt to address a perceived heresy within the mothership. Not my battle. Only because I personally do not think enough are preaching it, they preaching it as a salvation issue, nor are they of high enough rank that I would concern myself with it. Daniel Alicea obviously believes otherwise, and I respect his concern.
Labeling ANYTHING not given the conservative seal of "this is the way we have always done it" approval as relevant or emerging, declaring such to be anathema, and pursuing witch hunts sanctioned, and promulgated at the highest levels are my concern.
Refusing dialogue, castigating the young ministers with honest questions?
I am not opposing anyone, as much as trying to prevent what is coming.

Re: A Time to Rebel
Hmmmm, never met his identical twin. Was under his ministry a long time and I can hear him talking as you type. Hope you're being honest. IF it is really you. You used to preach and believe against women coloring their hair. You told me to my face when I asked. =( Now, you have changed.

Are you talking about the split D. Wright hinted at in this thread?
http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...ighlight=split
I'm not against you or your cause MrM. I'd like to see these young ministers work for unity with all that is within them before they consider splitting from the mother ship.
I've heard a couple of things the last 6 months that some of the older traditional folks get riled up over:
1) a preacher at GC got a little hot under the collar because of some not calling each other brother, sister, or pastor, but going on a first name basis. (unscriptural)
2) a preacher saying we must honor God by coming to church dressed in our very best clothing. Does that mean suit and ties for the men...always?
What's the most offensive thing these young "relevant" minister are proposing?
