Re: The Other General Conference in Houston 9.13-1
I don't have a problem with Global inviting Hagee and Osteen to speak. However for years I have not understood why they don't use some of the tremendous ministries within their own ranks at these conferences. I could see one major national name on one night but the I think the Global body could benefit from hearing a Joe Parker or more of Mike Hayes ,etc.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I don't see how Hagee's Zionism and quirks are any different from the stuff I've heard Kenneth Phillips, Kenneth Haney or Irwin Baxter manufacture ...
Yet, this would not be met with dissent ... if they preached a conference.

Kenneth Haney writes, "As Christians, until our departure happens, we must become unwavering supporters of Zionism. (pg 24) ....
CLC's Summer 2010 periodical "The Cross" ....
Um, no.

Then you're off my conference lineup this fall.
Shall we tally the prosperity preachers in Pentecost?

Any "Holy Magic Hair" preachers in Charismatica we need to boycott?

That's why folks looking to Global would hope for something different.
Just hope that Hagee doesn't speak on Eschatology and tell everyone 2,012 reasons why Jesus is coming back in 2012. Or let's hope he doesn't come out with a Yamaka or something, talking about the Red Heffers and a "new interpretation" of the 7 feasts.
It's one thing for these guys to have quirky eschatologies in private, and another to define their ministry by this stuff.
I'd like to see Global get beyond that I guess. But ah well... tell me how the meeting goes.

LOL!!! And the prosperity preachers are off of my lineup. Although in the economy we have had the last couple of years I imagine there are less prosperity preachers around than when times were booming.

I think this stuff permeates among a lot of the 50 and over guys who were/are hard-core Pentecostals ... Max ... par for the course.
Ever read some of Clyde Haney's eschatological musings?
From SG Norris to William Branham to Lee Stoneking ... the theories are just "out there"
but good to know guys like James Anderson are following suit ... with the "pale horse" being Islam.
But marvel that it was some of the OPs who got on the bandwagon to slam Hagee's weird ideas as disapproval for his participation as a Global speaker.
