Re: My Church is the Only One That is Right
sortuh, got Bible gateway online, and my Bible next to me.
Elder Epley,
1 Peter 3:21 clearly states that baptism serves as a way of showing a good conscience towards God.
This chapter also connects baptism with our salvation, but James teaches us that we show our faith is by our works. So again, it is not the baptism that washes away our sins, it is faith in our Savior Jesus Christ. That faith has led many of our Christian forefathers to be baptized, but in the titles as Jesus spoke in Mt 28:19. They did so out of honor and love for Jesus Christ, they did because of their faith in Jesus Christ. How are they dead and in hell?

There's one called E-Sword that you can download for free. Others have said they really like it. When I tried downloading it, my anti-virus software blocked it, so I ended up buying a program from Christianbook.com

So I see you selectively quoted only part of the verse "The like figure whereunto even BAPTISM DOTH NOW SAVE US..............is alsi included in the verse. Baptism and ONLY baptism clears the conscience because it remits past sins. It is not a ceremonial cleansing.
And yes they are dead and in hell.

Re: My Church is the Only One That is Right
guys please read my whole response. i ref'd to the fact that 1 Peter 3:21 connects baptism with salvation, but that verse, again, clearly teaches that baptism does not wash away our sins, but it is indeed an answer of a good conscience towards God.
it's an old song but worth repeating here:
"What can wash away my sins?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus."

Sir, the coldness of this statement is just a reflection of your AFF chat room demeanor, right?
