I doubt Charnock rejoices in the fact a mans children leave the faith. I don't wish it on anyone, and having an 11 & 13 year old I know the concern I have to see them remain faithful to the Lord.

I think Charnocks point is more like look at what your hateful attitudes produce even in your own families. Look at the havoc and fruit of being totally devoted to the commandments of men. If ya'll really had truth would its fruit be so heart breaking? Would it be so destructive to so many families and lives?

Many of these men are too busy preaching exclusivity, to busy protecting their brand, to notice that in the process they've abandoned their own kids.

When the children of these men fail in any way to keep standards they are pushed away, too.

In many cases these men love their standards more than their kids.

Yes, I do have kids.

They would fit in well in any "Apsotolic" setting. But I have never been embarrassed of my kids. I have never held them up as public examples of my Apostolic commitment. When they question, and when they fail, I don't throw them away.
