Actually, I think the New Year celebration has pagan origins too.

Plus, people drink a lot of alcohol and kiss people who they're not married to.

Amen, sister. And Paul clearly noted that although meat was offered to false idol gods, we know it is just meat and that there is only one God. Go ahead and eat the meat. The false gods are nothing. So eating meat is just eating meat, whether it is offered to idols or not. Just do not do it in the pagan temples. And Dec 25 is just Dec 25, whether we give gifts or not. We know there is One God. We actually EMPOWER the nothingness of the idol to be something when we rally againts these things.

It's all there in Romans 14, 1 Cor 8, 1 Cor 10.
