Folks who are wondering why a lot of folks have been spending less time around here could use this thread as a case in point.

Several years ago those advocating for TV advertising were discouraged when the matter was shot down...yet...I do not remember hearing any possible chaos resulting in a large number of progressive ministers leaving or even considering leaving... seems to me that there is a rotten spirit at the root of this whole debacle...

Yes... The pro advertising crowd didn't do this when they lost... In fact the pro-crowd was quiet and respectful when it went through this year... I was told by several of the con crowd that had it not gone through there would have been a lot of hooting and hollering..

I can't imagine that a room full of men with integrity and dignity would outwardly celebrate such a silly issue.

I can imagine however some simple minded folks hooting and hollering because of some bigger issue, however the AS resolution pretty much took care of those guys anyway and a long time ago.

There was a group That was going to leave anyways

If you think about it, the UPC is fragmenting into 3 groups:

Those who remain UPC, The far right and the Tulsa group

There is nothing "illegal" if the men who put the meeting together are no longer in the UPC (which I know for a fact some of them will not be). They are not bound by the manual.

Furthermore, if they are not "preaching" for a non-UPC pastor in the area, there is nothing in the manual that requires notifying the presbyter, DS, or anyone else. When the National Youth Division brought a meeting to Kansas a few years ago, no one contacted me (I was DS then) OR the presbyter about it. In fact, they didn't even ask the local pastor. They just did it.

Complaining about this meetings seems like a double standard in my opinion.

Nonsense. I don't believe that for a minute. People were also saying we were going to "throw our cards on the platform and stomp out." None of that happened, either.
