There are times and places in scripture where God sent floods and famines, where He commanded the sun NOT to shine, where pestilence and blessing both was poured out on people.

God has the ultimate control. He is sovereign. And if for some reason it pleased Him or suited His purpose for a typhoon to blow into Vancouver, it would be done.

We know that there are weather "systems" that make weather what it is in different parts of the world; that and geographical location dictates weather as well.

But there is no doubt that God can "tip the water jars of heaven" (love that metaphor

) when and if He chooses and for a reason and purpose we may never know or understand.

While the words of Job's counselors have relevance to the context, it does not mean their words are inspired. Their words give context and texture to the subject, yet it does not make their words infallible. If not why did God rebuke Job's counselors and basically tells them they didn't know what they were speaking of. But of course, they spoke elements of truth.

That's why the scripture says '...the letter kills, the spirit makes alive..." Understanding requires "rightly dividing the word of truth", otherwise one misses its purpose.

They didn't understand the reason for nor all that was going on in regard to Job's situation. And yes, they were men.

You can't discount the truth they spoke and the scriptures that I pasted in here are backed up by God's own Word and by example and testimony of other Scripture and real life happening.

That's what I mean, "rightly dividing". Was just making a point that context is very important to understand "who" is saying "what" "when and where".

I think we are in agreement, "they didn't understand" therefore their words, while important, should not be considered infallible.

When Adam And Eve committed original sin in the garden of Eden the earth was put under a curse, so storms could be a result of that.
In the Bible sometimes natural disasters were the results of God's judgements.
But I don't think storms now are really God's judgement.
That could be in a few cases but not all or the vast majority.

The 40 day flood was a joint venture between God, Enoch, Methuselah and Noah. God planned it, Enoch prophesied it, Methuselah preached it, (his name Methuselah means, "When I die the deluge will come".) He died somewhere, within 2 months and ten days of the flood. Noah condemned the world, by building an ark. (Heb 11:7) God could not have done it without some cooperation from mankind.
