Who Causes Storms?
Got into an interesting debate last Friday.
This man believes that hurricanes and tornadoes and such are caused by satan.
His scripture he uses is when Jesus rebuked the storm.
Now to me that was just showing His authority.
I am remembering the flood that God sent for 40 days.
What is your take?

Hurricanes are intense low pressure areas that form over warm ocean waters. They get their source form water vapor which is evaporated from the ocean's surface.
Basically, our weather is caused by two things: the sun and moisture in the air.
Without the sun and moisture in the air, our earth would have no weather at all.
God has set all these cycles in motion - well planned and ordained.
If the devil has anything to do with it, as in Job, he still has to have permission from God.
Not much else to say on that subject.

Neither, storms are the result of physics involving heat, moisture, the Earths corealius effect from its spin, and particulate matter floating around. Oh yes, cosmic rays, ocean currents and temperatures (falls into the basic category of 'heat'), and even the Earths magnetic field, all play a roll.
These are physical laws that were created and set into effect at the time of the Big Bang.
Now can God 'alter' things? Of course He can. In the same vein that a butterfly flapping its wings in New York can cause a ripple effect which will cause a typhoon in Japan a month later (called appropriately, the "Butterfly Effect"), God has such a mastery over these forces, and chaos in general, that He can indeed alter things to His purpose.
But can satan? Not on your life. (And by the way tornado's, as well as hurricanes, are the Earths natural cooling mechanisms. If satan actually caused them, then he would be unwittingly HELPING the planet to regulate its temperatures.)

...otherwise known as the Creation event. The single biggest miracle that God has ever performed.
Actually, it is quite amazing, the "laws" were officially set between 10 to the minus 10 and 10 to the minus 30 plus seconds from the official 'moment'.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to use the term with Creationism. I was just wondering, RW, since you believe in aliens and all.

When did I say I "believed" in them? I have acknowledged that they MAY exist, but that existence is totally irrelevant to this world and humanity if they do.

There is no option for storms just being a natural process (like water running down hill) that serves a useful purpose in this world.
