Everyone would have to admit, that if a certain segment of the Apostolic movement were to come to power, life could get really interesting.
come one guys, do any of you think that if somehow a cabal of Theocratic leaders somehow came to autocratic power in America (or any other country) that held UC Apostolic beliefs, that they would NOT impose Ultra Con Standards on the entire nation?
CC1 is right....
however, just as that would be very bad, if the liberal left got autocratic non-democratic controll, they would put all of us to death, so clearly 2 things need to be kept in mind.
1. we need democracy always
2. we need to have a voice of opposition that balances and prevents the extreme from gaining control. (what ever extreme you might be talking about)

If "conservative Oneness Pentecostals governed America"....
I wonder, would sodomites be allowed to parade their wares before the public?
Would there even be a debate about "Gay marriage amendments"?
Would they be teaching your children?
I wonder....
Would tv be all that bad? Would there be gratuitous nudity, immorality, filthy language, glorification of violence, broadcast 24/7 across the airwaves and CATV lines and sat links?
Would our tax dollars be used to fund blasphemy against our Saviour in the name of "art"?
Does God endorse Christians (who supposedly are His "bond-slaves") endorsing the "right" of people to commit treason against the King? To wage war against God and His people pell-mell, non-stop, to "all get out"?
Is "democracy" even on God's agenda? Is that what God plans for the future of mankind? Religious and political polytheism, "democracy", everybody having their right to sin protected and inviolate?
Wow. I wonder how bad it will be when Jesus rules "autocratically" and "theocratically"!
The way some folks talk, the last thing any Christian would want is for GOD TO ACTUALLY RULE THE NATIONS.
We do want GOD to rule; we just don't want a bunch of people who preach dominion theology and Christian Reconstructionism to rule. We want JESUS to literally set foot on this Earth and personally reign over it from Jerusalem! We don't want the likes of Rousas Rushdoony and Gary North ruling. We don't want the late 17th century, early 18th century Puritan colonies on a national scale and certainly not on a global scale.
Personally, I don't think "conservative Pentecostals" will ever govern America. We do not, as a movement, have the theonomic hutzpah to even attempt a try at it.
Does not God govern by His Word? Then you should have no problem with the WORD being the basis of law in society, correct?

If God is entitled to national obedience (can you deny it?) then how can it be wrong for people to simply enforce, as a society, the "rules" God has already ordained?

The New Jerusalem is the church (see the Revelation), and all nations are eventually going to walk in it's light (which is JESUS, the incarnate WORD OF GOD). Waiting for some Thomas Ice scenario to play out will put one right into the hands of the antichrist.

Why not? Have you read "The Institutes of the Divine Law"? Do you have any idea what you are opposing?
By the way, I think Rushdoony and North are flat wrong on the fourth commandment, because they would make that commandment void and non-enforceable.

God does not govern by the scriptures. He governs by the One that John referred to as the logos in John 1.

Because that is not what is laid out in Bible prophecy. What is laid out in Bible prophecy is that Jesus will HIMSELF rule on Earth. Jesus commanded us to go into all the world and preach the gospel, NOT to take over governments and social institutions.

WRONG! This is that vile doctrine of Origen and Clement of Alexandria wherein Bible prophecy is "spiritualized."

I'm opposing a viewpoint that says we're to take over governments and social institutions in order to present them to Christ when He returns. I'm opposing the viewpoint that somehow taking over governments and social institutions is the way to evangelize the world.

I think they're heretics and that their doctrine is Satan's means of trying to get the Church away from reaching the lost with the gospel.

Oh, you prefer what we have now, then? Weird...
I don't prefer either one. But I have read the Constitution and its amendments and the government established in that doctrine is not, by any stretch of the imagination, even remotely Christian.

Hmmm, I wonder just what life would be like....
you would have to include the wearing of short sleeves. blue jean skirts, swimming, baseball, football, and I suppose apple pie.
more importantly people would go to jail for wearing short sleeves.... it isnt about what good, it is about what extreme.
the thing about UCs is they are human. While one might think they have the mind of God on a particular issue, one must realize that absent any countering power, humans are subject to one over riding reality.
Power corrupts. Absolute Power corrupts, Absolutly.
