I've heard that his demeanor is too quiet and is one reason he would not hold up in an election. lol
I think people will always be looking for their Saul.
Did you hear George Stephanopoulos, speaking of Obama, "The tall man always wins."? It sounded so stupid, I was embarrassed that he said it. But, alas, I'm afraid we look more at outward appearance and showmanship, than we do character and proven policy.
I did not hear him say that, but it might not be far off base some of the time.
Of course, McCain did win the nomination in front of Romney, so that might not work for everything, lol.

Sadly it is almost alway correct.

I still like Jindal and his stock is rising with this Oil thing going on. He is the only guy around who looks "presidential"
But Pence and Ryan are rising stars.
PO didnt we have a conversation where I said niether has a chance because they are Members of the house and nothing else?
I still think that is a problem for both and Ryan is YOUNG.
We shall see though.
The jig isnt up for Obama to win in 2012 but it is now a close thing. he has 2 years to change the economy... it really will be about the economy.
Yes, Ferd, we did have this conversation. BUT, Ron Paul ran for President as a Congressman (US House of Representatives). Same title that Paul Ryan and Mike Pence hold. What's the difference?
Paul Ryan is my choice for 2012. I think it would be a huge mistake to wait until 2016. The damage an 8-year Obama administration will do to our economy will not be sustainable. We're $13 trillion in debt, will be $19 trillion by 2015. Any reasonable candidate that runs on a platform of massive spending cuts, lower taxes for everyone, smaller govt and smart economic policies that encourage business, job creation and competition will win in a landslide against these social experimentors in the White House.
Paul Ryan? If this were anything but a Repub assault on the BHO "half way point" I would have shouted that one down - but it does sort of make sense... if all the Republicans are looking for is a sacrificial lamb. Ryan hasn't even won his Senate seat yet - and he's fumbled things badly in his press appearances.
If we really want to win this thing we need a scrapper in the 2012 fight - someone like Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson. Unleash that duo and the Dems will be reeling for a decade.
With the upcoming pre-election attack on Iran set for late summer/early fall 2010, the Dems are going to feel re-energized and the Republicans are about to be caught completely unprepared unless they get ahead of this issue NOW!

I don't think so. Fred did terrible jumping in late the last go round. And I think the country is still backing up on Newt. His demeanor comes across as mean and I don't think people would, largely, vote for him.

Running against a sitting president, you don't want to necessarily play your "best cards" - especially right after has neutered the Iranians. The Bog O's going to be riding a lot higher than most people expect this fall - unless he bungles this badly, in which case you and I could probably win against him in 2012.
Newt is a great ideas guy and remember what he accomplished in 1994 - that was unprecedented. It was also a couple of wives ago, so that still lingers. Fred is a class act. Either of these guys could make Obama look seriously foolish in a televised debate.

Ron Paul lost?
