Our pastor's wife had an aneurysm about three years ago that almost killed her. Of course she survived miraculously, but it had effected her brain. For a while she didn't have her normal composure, and said the "s" word frequently in conversations! The family was shocked because they had never heard her cuss in her whole life.
She must have been "thinking" these words before!
I bet they didn't call on her to testify for a good long while. Wanna make sure she's completely healed before they turn her loose on the congregation with her testimony!
In my experience caring for elderly folks with a measure of dementia, I hear my share of hilarious comments from our grandmas who if you wouldn't better you would think they were sailors at one point in their lives.
I once took care of a well-known UPC pastor before he died several years ago. He had Alzheimer's as well as a stroke. It was sad to see him in his condition, because his elderly wife took care of him at home even though he was bedridden, and he would hit her and cuss something horrible. She would cry because she didn't understand why he was that way and that he never was that way when he was well.
She recently passed away also, and I'm sure they are once again enjoying one another in paradise.
But dealing with dementia, wow, it just makes you a different person.

Rico, that reminds me. On the mission field in Liberia we always had stories like that. English is the official language there, but for the indigenous people it is still a second language. Some of the less educated ones would here slang or sayings and not know that they were bad or fully understand what they meant. We had a church mother get up and talk about how she was "b.s" for Jesus.

A saved person is not responsible for their actions when they're demented?
Who, then is?
I've heard of people speaking in tongues in their sleep.
I've heard of people waking up and literally the first words out of their mouths are tongues.
I've heard of the elderly in nursing homes speaking in tongues while suffering from some sort of mental impairment.
I've never heard of a saved, demented person cussing and hitting their wives or anything like that, until just now.

Welcome to humanity. Did you ever consider how that with a ball peen hammer a person could "change" the eternal destiny of another person's soul?
Sure, But I think what most people consider a curse word is wrong.
Scripture speaks of several types of words, "curse, idle, doubt, un-belief, filthy communication."
So a "S#@T, may be "filthy communication" but it is not a curse word. And as far as how God would judge words unbelief is the worst words that can be spoken.
Consider the 10 spies. The nation was plunged into 40 days of doubt/unbelief because of them and paid for it by 40 years of wilderness experience.
I agree...in fact the word we use is not curse but cuss :-)
I think only Italians and Gypsies curse anyways....and the occasional jew in yiddish

There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
Every sinner must repent of their sins.
That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

True. Family members should not take it personally
