Re: Angel Band,The Stanley Brothers.
Sad enough for you?
There's a picture that I carry
One we made some time ago
When they ask who's in the picture with me
I say just someone I used to know
Just someone, I used to spend some time with
Just a flame, that's lost its glow
But I don't them of the nights I cried without you
I say just someone I used to know
Just someone, I used to run around with
Just a friend from long ago
I don't tell them, how lost I am without you
I say just someone I used to know
I say just someone I used to know
----------------------------------
or this?
As I read the letters that you wrote to me,
It's you that I am thinking of.
As I look at the lines that to me were so sweet,
I remember our faded love.
I miss you darling more and more every day,
As heaven would miss the stars above.
And with every heartbeat I still think of you,
And remember our faded love.
I think of the past and all the pleasures we had,
As I watch the mating of the dove.
It was in the springtime that you said goodbye,
I remember our faded love.
I miss you darling more and more every day,
As heaven would miss the stars above.
With every heartbeat I still think of you,
And remember our faded love,
And remember our Faded Love.
---------------------------------------------------
or how about this?
Can’t you picture him sitting alone at night looking out the open window at the dark sky, hearing the night sounds, and feeling sorry for himself? Old Hank was somewhat of a poet.
Hear the lonesome whiperwill
He sounds too blue to fly
The midnight train is whining low
Im so lonesome I could cry
Ive never seen a night so long
When time goes crawling by
The moon just went behind a cloud
To hide its face and cry
Did you ever see a robin weep
When leaves begin to die
That means he's lost the will to live
I'm so lonesome I could cry
The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky
And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome I could cry

Re: Angel Band,The Stanley Brothers.
this thread has contained some awesome music,,,
Friends, I urge you to pray for the music industry, especially whats happening in Nashville.
There is something really spiritual happening in that city. Its almost like God is saying...Im taking my music back! So many artists, big and small, are coming to know the Lord in a very powerful way.
Just recently, I attended a service, and was sitting across the isle from Rickey Skaggs.
He worshipped just as you and I do. No pretense....no "look at me".
Then he spoke about how we as christians need to encourage our young people to step into their gifting and calling. It was a very touching time when he called all the young musicians up and laid hands on them and prayed for them. This is not an uncommon thing now. Now that we have the capabilities of downloading ANYTHING musically, cd sales are low, and the music "business" is going broke. Lets pray that it goes so broke that only our Lord can revive it and He will revive it to HIS glory.
Just rambling.....
Blessings!

That was a few years ago. The Osborne Brothers have picked up some years since then and it seems like they have some trouble hitting some of those high notes. Last time I saw them they had some younger help with the high notes.
Have you heard anything by Jerry and Tammy Sullivan?
They are cousins (I think) of Marty Stuart.

Re: Angel Band,The Stanley Brothers.
The Sullivan Family The group of Enoch and Margie Sullivan are from Washington county,AL which borders my county.Jerry and Tammy Sullivan hail from there also,Jerry Sullivan had a falling out with Enoch and Margie.
Jerry and Tammy are father and daughter.
As a matter of fact,a guy named Micheal Bailey used to play banjo with the Enoch and Margie Sullivan family group, anyways Micheal Bailey is a picking buddy of mine.
We meet in a shop for picking sesions where I play the upright bass.

One of these days I'm going to download a whole cd of "Faded Love" from iTunes. I did this a while back with "The Great Speckled Bird." I have about 13 versions of that song on one CD. When I'm alone in my truck I can play it and sing along but my wife doesn't appreciate hearing it over and over by different people.

Bob Wills invented "Western Swing". Ahhhh HHaaaaaa!!
