Hmm, seems unfair, but I'm kinda fuzzy today.

I mean, all he had to do was build a particle accelerator in his back yard, no big whup...lol.

But he is driving his car around for free now, hello? I'd say that your comment has some validity on a personal level, but elevated to its possibly rightful place on a mass scale, not so much.

I'd argue that he can hook you up with hydride, and you can distill hydrogen via water and sunlight alone, easy, it's a science fair project. Not so sure how the environment would react to the whole planet burning hydrogen, but that is beside the point. Your car will run on hydrogen just fine, and the only reason we (well, not me) still burn gas is because it makes powerful men richer.

The last vehicle I drove had a cheapie "water for fuel" system that amounts to two electrodes in a quart of water with intake/outlet hoses to/from the 4Runner's intake system, cost me about $400 and doubled my mileage, almost, to about 26 mpg on a 3.0L.

I'm not doubting a car can run on hydrogen. They can using TWO methods, combustion and electricity via fuel cell. But it takes MUCH more energy to MAKE hydrogen (from water) then you will ever recover in burning it. Thus it is akin to buying gas to feed a generator to power lights to light up a solar panel and using the electricity from it -rather then just using it from the gas powered generator (at about 10 times the efficiency). The whole "browns gas" thing is a product of Dennis Lee and his over unity snake oil he pitched for years.

Re: The Scare

Ah, now that I can't argue with, except that the sun or the wind are "free" energy? Whose harness has been deliberately kept stifled for profit, so the argument goes.

Although your argument is surely true on a technical level, my 4Runner is getting 26-28 mpg, and it cost me $400 and 4 hours, plus 15 minutes once a month.

Considering the HUGE profit margin they enjoy, howmuch they pay for all those are apparently NOT that high verses how much they charge us for gas

Re: The Scare

Im convinced they pay people to watch the news for any conflict they can use as an excuse to raise gas prices

Re: The Scare

Randy's link above, was quite instructive as to their reasoning. Some whiz figured out that US peak production would be 1970, like back in the 50's I think. He was roundly derided, but sure enough we peaked right about then. Same guy said world peak would be right about now, which kind of frames their greedy little mindset.
