I'm actually not a fan of government-funding for NPR, though I enjoy their programming. They should continue what they are doing, and solicit public contribution, keep their current format of not being overly-commercialized, etc...

And you'll get the Kudos!
I think he left enough truth in the episode so that we can debate whether it was deliberate. Some of that truth stands out alot more starkly the 2nd or 3rd time you watch the clip. (For example he actually mentions the dealer part of the site, although I think he was still talking about cars.gov but even if he was I can view that as an accidental mistake).

But the thing for me is that we shouldn't have to watch his clip 2 or 3 or more times to see the truth parts of it. To me that screams deception. And I imagine that almost everyone who watches that clip and is unfamiliar with the issue will take the video exactly how you and I took it the first time. I can't say he deliberately planned that (though I honestly think he did), but I can say that he could have done a much better job actually pointing out the relevant facts.

However, at the end of the day I'm glad he broke the story about the wording of that disclaimer because whether it was the average citizen or just car dealers that had to agree to that, I didn't like how it was worded. In fact not long after Beck broke the story that disclaimer was either removed or changed.

Anyways, what bothers me the most is that he actually had a legitimate story and concern and by the time he is done with it, we are having to have a discussion about whether he was deliberately deceptive or just accidently deceptive... (That to me screams deliberate deception because its hard for me to understanding how presenting such a legit story about dealers having to agree to that discliamer could have accidently turned into a deceptive story).

October 20, 2010, 12:50 pm Soros Donates $1 Million to Media Matters
By MICHAEL D. SHEAR
Media Matters, the liberal activist group that wages a rhetorical war against Fox News Channel and others in the conservative press, will announce on Wednesday the receipt of a $1 million donation from the philanthropist George Soros.

Today, National Public Radio announced a $1.8 million grant from Soros's Open Society Foundations for an "Impact of Government" initiative that will eventually "add editorial resources and reporters to NPR member stations in all 50 states."

Soros is a convicted felon. He is trying to control the leftist media.

This is fun to see how the Soros sock puppets battle against Conservaitives and family values.

I can and do respect your opinion. I just don't see it being quite so nefarious in intent.

I'm no fan of Soro's policies, but technically his "conviction" for insider trading in France isn't comparable to being a "convicted felon" in the U.S. In the U.S. and as a U.S. citizen (naturalized) he does have a clean record - criminally.

Just another fact that escapes you, coadmeister?

I'm curious: how do you explain a story about car dealers having to click on that disclaimer becoming a story about everyone going to the cars.gov site having to click on that disclaimer? Or is that not what you got out of Beck's portrayl of the story?

The latter. I just didn't get the feeling he deliberatly lied. I think it's exactly like you said; he could have done a better job pointing out the facts.

There's no disputing the wording of the disclaimer and it's good it was exposed.

If it matters that much in the over scheme of things, I guess it's okay to attribute a nerfarious intent on Beck's part. I just didn't see it to that degree.

I wonder if there are any other stories that would better point out his detractor's assertions he lies like a rug!?

Why do you make stuff up? Go get us the list of all the recipients of funding from http://www.democracyalliance.org/about
Then get back to me.

I haven't bought advertising on NPR for 8 years. I am having coffeee in some of their mugs as we speak.
