No you did not understand me.

And how are you to view people out side of "this faith"? I ussume this faith is those that do not see your three step plan of salvation? Jesus himself on more than one ocation said he that beleive shall be saved. Peter on the day of Pentecost preached those that call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. John said those that profess Jesus is the Christ are saved those that do not are anti-Christ. I do not say we are not to go on to fulfill all righteousness, but as James says I say I will go on and show you my faith by my works. This teaching is not new half of the brothren that formed the UPC held to this understanding. Call it Calvanistic all you want, even Calvanist held high standards of Christian living. The point is where is our salvation in full effect, when we confess in faith our beleif in Jesus as our savior, or after we jump through the steps present apostolics teach as the plan of salvation?

Depends on where they are. If they are repented, I see their sins forgiven and a child of God by faith. If they have been baptized calling on the name of the Lord, I see them put into Christ's death. If they have received the HOly Ghost I see the Spirit has filled them and will quicken their mortal bodies to help them walk after the Spirit. Acts 2:38 says the same no matter what flavor the denomination. The Bible still teaches what each of these three steps does in our relationship with God and conquerance of the sin nature.

I want to respond to the points in this last area but I have to get to work personaly I enjoy this talk. So I hope you don't take offense in the way I present things too much. As far as I am concerned we are both going down the same road. As for what you say about me calling things false doctrine? I think men has taken what you call principles and turned them into standards. ie to define women wearing pants as mens apearal is to turn a principle into a standard, to take a principle of dressing modestly and turning it into abstanance of any kind of jewlery or cosmetics, turns a principle into a standard. this is what the religious leaders had done with the law of moses and what Christ reprimanded them for.

Principles have to be applied somewhere. I do not believe in the letter of standards like I was raised. I have seen the principles behind them and how they are carried out lean upon one another. THe desire to be Holy as the SPirit leads, Jesus would never rebuke. He however will rebuke someone who has a "holier than thou" attitude because of their outside, but empty on the inside.

God bless

God bless you also.. my response in red.

Re: mark them

While this has been fun and I know we like to argue things it strikes me that it seems no one has looked to see just what it was Paul is talking about. In our culture we think to study scripture is to look up subjects and compile what we think is being said about the subject in those verses. Instead of reading the context of the book. Many times what we thought were verses about the subject we were looking up have nothing to do with the thought we are trying press across.

The point Paul is bringing home is not disagrements within the body of Christ but things that divide the body of Christ.

Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

Paul lets us know how we can identify them, they are out for thier own glory not Christ. They cause the simple to be decieved with words and fair speaches.

Rom 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

Paul tells us how to advoid these pit falls and those types of deceptions, by simply being wise unto those things that are good and simple to evil.

Rom 16:19 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.

One of my halmark scriptues on this is found in Phillipians

Php 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
Php 4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Php 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Php 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Bottom line IMHO in the verse in question Paul says to (watch them, concider them,) not give them the boot so to speak. We have strait forward instructions as to how and when we are to disfellowship someone.

If you do NOT agree with a given org's policies my advice is to just leave! Some will say "Well I have loved ones that I want to reach!", to which I say you can still talk to your loved ones and try to convince them of anything you want, but do not play the part of a saboteur and stay in the org/church for the purpose of ruining it.

If your going to plunge the figurative knife into someone, don't do it from behind! Do it from the front where you and everyone is visible!
DUDE! Your avatar...I have a movie with this guy in it. "Around The World In 80 Days." It's got Pierce Brosnan and this guy in it. Good movie.
