For my level of play and income, me either. I highly doubt the notion that more money on equipment makes a person that much better of a player.

Best wishes for your game.

I played competitive softball for years A-comp. I spent hundreds of dollars on bats and the rest of the stuff. Once in a while we would drop down and enter a tournament just to crush every team and get a nice t-shirt.

Kind of funny, we had a city wide church tournament a few years ago, and it was pretty competitive. At the end of the day...get this...I won the "Apostolic Home Run King" trophy when it was all said and done.

It is still on my mantle gathering dust as my knees still hurt walking around on a cold floor.

It does...trust me. There are some highly engineered bats out there that can add 20-30 feet depending on the velocity and skill with which it is used.

Ya'll need to repent of this out of control spending on this worldly pass time!

Just don't ask me how much my golf clubs cost!

Moment of Inertia... they can make bats, like golf clubs, extremely hot... that is why they are trying to regulate some of these bats... there have been some very serious injuries as a result of the ball speed coming off of the more revved up bats.

the above emboldened is the reason why a $40 bat is sufficient for me.

I remember using a brand new illegal bat that hadn't hit the radar yet (so they couldn't add it to the banned list), and I hit a blue dot (softball) over the light pole and into the batting cage netting outside center field. My teammates said it would have been long gone in a baseball field much less than the puny 300 ft fences we were playing with. They were all rolling on the floor laughing when I hit that one.

It was a moment of awe.

...and I was not on steroids either.

that is why I advocate wooden bats for all baseball/softball related sports.
