Now, we can't call it the First Pentecostal Church, because there might have been another pentecostal there that we didn't know of, that was started back just after Topeka, and we might offend someone who knows about.
We can't call it The Pentecostal of Whatever Street, because someday there might be some more, there may be some now, and there might have been some before...and besides that, now EVERYBODY that goes to church there actually lives on that street.
People can find the nitpickingest things to get bucked up about.
I guess Anycity First Church should change their name because there might have been another one before it somewhere else.
Well, don't call your church Cornerstone, because somebody else might think that their church is the REAL cornerstone, or there may be sometime that they ARE the biggest in town upon whom the others lean.
You know, we need to stop this kind of balogna.
I am proud to be a member of The Pentecostals of Fort Worth. I don't apologize for it. I am not ashamed of it. And, I am not trying to claim that we are the only Pentecostals in the city. But, I AM proud that we can identify ourselves as definitely Pentecostal. I AM happy to declare that we believe the Oneness of God, baptize in Jesus name, and preach what Peter preached on the Day of Pentecost--making us TRULY Pentecostal.

See there...that's what I thought you meant all along. You are the TRUE Pentecostals of Fort Worth. Thanks for letting us know.
acharris,One reason AoGers are not viewed as Pentecostal any longer is because y'all can live any ole way,no standards, no dress code whatsoever and still be Pentecost- UPCers view that more as "charismatic". so AG to us are more like Charismatic.
Who doesn't view the A/G as Pentecostal any longer? They're definitely not charismatic. Does a dress code make you Pentecostal? I thought it was the Holy Ghost Baptism.

BRAVO!!!! Good for you! and why was this thread just about the pentecostals only? (i admit i haven't read this entire thread) How many times have I seen "the baptist of blablaville" or "The assemblies of God"
This just looks like another attack on pentecostalism!

True Pentecostals still preach what the Apostles preached on the day of Pentecost...that's why the term was coined.
So... if their church is the only one that still believes the message that was preached at the Day of Pentecost in Acts... well, I guess they truly are the Pentecostals of that place.
I say, (something I've never said before on a forum)
Get over it.
