Well its the truth anything you choose over following Gods plan is a idol. If facial hair or any thing material keeps you out of "forsaking the assembling of yourself together" then its a idol i.e. a golden calf.

Hebrews 10:25 "Not forsaking the ASSEMBLING OF OURSELVES TOGETHER, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."
Ephesians 5:27 "That he might present it to himself a glorious CHURCH, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish."
Church comes from the word Ekklesia meaning "a gathering of citizens called out from their homes into some public place, AN ASSEMBLY." You can't be part of the assembly, and forsake the assembling of yourself together. Like I said there is no joining Gods church it only comes by birth or by being transplanted into the church.
