ah; i did not realize that DB was in uniform. This explains a lot, perhaps. In my lexicon, fealty to a king is by definition turning from God. I have a higher calling than some Constitution written by men; although i know this isn't popular. Live by the sword, die by the sword, and all that. All men do is vanity, in the end.

The kingdom of this world rules by the threat of and use of the sword. It is a top-down institution. The kingdom of God, on the other hand, is bottom-up, it is based on love and mercy within each heart. Jesus perfectly demonstrated this. He resisted using the sword. He could have called ten-thousand angels but instead permitted the world to shed his blood.

The general is just getting excited over the idea of getting the chance to spray and pray at 200,000 rounds per insurgent and maybe getting to hit a wedding party or two. He lacks the scuds though to drive over to the bad side of town and save some American lives but he is just trembling at the thought of killing off a few raggedy villagers in some faraway land who are nowhere near any Americans. His idea of a big night is watching his "brave LOL" Israeli heroes "defending themselves" miles outside their borders bulldozing unarmed American girls, shooting schoolboys in the back, and gunning down rock throwers whose only crime was owning property with a nice view.

i feel particularly bad for our servicemen, who have been indoctrinated with a lifetime of 'hero' mythology, and must now feel compelled to invest in the system that they have volunteered for, thus blinding themselves all the more. When suicides eclipse war casualties in a superior force, something is terribly wrong.

the current potus seems to have eradicated the last of the brass with any honor. The US armed forces are not even a pale reflection of their former selves.

Neither do two wars and a budgetary drawdown. I am CONVINCED that too many Christians give too much power to the POTUS. It as if we have stopped believing in the sovereignty of God! Everything that goes wrong, praise the devil and blame oboomba!
