I am old enough to remember when horse & buggies were our primary mode of transport!

Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945

Speaking of pennies, penny march on Sunday mornings....
Remember on your birthday - they always had a church shaped bank and you marched up to the front and put in a coin (usually a penny) for every year you were old while everyone sang.....
A happy birthday to you,
a happy birthday to you,
may you feel Jesus near
every day of the year
a happy birthday to you
a happy birthday to you.
and the best one you ever had.

I remember back when, if we wanted to go to McDonald's, we had to travel all the way to Toledo to do it. And not just to the outer edges of Toledo. We had to go almost all the way downtown. There was probably only one McDonald's in all of Northwest Ohio!! I think we went there maybe 3 times the whole times I was growing up. With 5 kids, even their 15 cent hamburgers were not affordable for us.
Speaking of growing up tho - I don't know any kids today whose mom makes a gallon of Kool-Aid every day in the summer. EVERY day! But my mom did. Now kids just grab a pop to drink. We never got pop growing up! Maybe once a year. And even then, it was either root-beer or orange pop. Certainly never Pepsi or Coke.

We still count pennies on folks birthdays at our church and then
get them to come to the front and sing that song for them!

Oh boy... I am feeling shivers going up and down my spine (and not the good kind of shivers either) when I remember that song.
