Some will stay in a past religious system, such as the folks in Judaism and some will continue enlarging their spiritual understanding. It's just a personal decision dependent on an individuals comfort zone.

It is not so simple as that. It is seeing what the bible says and not allowing contradiction of that to pass us by as if it does not matter. People misunderstand scripture and wil think something contradicts when it really does not, but the principle holds true that truth does not contradict truth. Until a person digs into the statements the bible provides and realizes what contradicts them and what does not, one is without direction.

Everyone is then free to contradict or not. But contradiction is contradiction.

So you and I have to find statements in the word that allow for what you propose as well as find if anything contradicts your thoughts or not. I can find lots that contradict your thoughts. You are free to do anything. Be a Buddhist! But truth is not arbitrary in the end.

Truth is a strange thing in the bible, it changes with time (thankfully). For example, would the following scripture be truth for today? Was it truth when it was written? What changed?

Lev 20:9 For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him. 10 And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

Being a Buddhist would actually be boring
wake up
spend an hour in meditation
stand on your head a bit
eat some vegetables
make sure you don't step on any bugs
