You think Rangel accidently failed to pay taxes all this time? A crime is a crime, you don't get brownie points for doing it on accident anyways.

Snipes did not choose to go to jail.

He chose to argue that he was not subject to taxation in the first place.

Very different argument from Rangel.

Also, Snipes owed a lot more than Rangel.
