The Christmas Tree isn't meant to honor God, lot's of things don't honor God, that does not make them wrong. It's just an American tradition essentially

It's about people...God cares how we treat each other, not if there's a tree in our home to celebrate the season.
Why we make God out to be such a taskmaster I'll never understand.
I hope you do come back and tell us what happened.
I wonder if we can swallow a cnat and strain at a kamel

Re: I'm confused Christmas tree or not?

No gettin around the fact that many of the customs involved in Christ mass has pagan roots. Maybe the Christ mass tree itself does, but I THINK likely probably does not. Regardless however, if she decided that she didnt feel good about the tree after having it up, for whatever reason, then so be it.

My "church" doesnt preach against having a Christ mass tree. But I personally dont feel comfortable bringing an evergreen tree in my home, fastening it upright, decorating it, and putting presents under it, and calling the name of it a Christ mass tree when it doesnt have a hill of beans to do with Jesus Christ in MY OPINION. But thats just my opinion on it, I dont have a problem with anyone that has a different view of it, as we each have our own thoughts and/or convictions on the subject. (And no im not gonna debate the subject with anyone, as it is already debated all over the internet).

Re: I'm confused Christmas tree or not?

Legend has it that Martin Luther began the tradition of decorating trees to celebrate Christmas. One crisp Christmas Eve, about the year 1500, he was walking through snow-covered woods and was struck by the beauty of a group of small evergreens. Their branches, dusted with snow, shimmered in the moonlight. When he got home, he set up a little fir tree indoors so he could share this story with his children. He decorated it with candles, which he lighted in honor of Christ's birth.
The Christmas tree tradition most likely came to the United States with Hessian troops during the American Revolution, or with German immigrants to Pennsylvania and Ohio, adds Robson.

There is a great thing about Christ mass trees. If your husband(or U) is a crappie fisherman, they make great crappie beds! Maybe you can still get use out of it!

I thought, at first, you were talking about people who don't fish very well. LOL... then I realized you were talking about a species of fish.

Re: I'm confused Christmas tree or not?

Dec 25th was NOt the birth of God in flesh. the feast of tabernacles was when he was born in the FALL of the year. This is the saturnalia in worship to the SUN-god. Constantine the leader in Rome kept this pagan day & said bring all the gods into this day to worship their birth. God forbid the jews to keep this in the old testament. He FORBID trees to be brought into the home. Goodnews magazine on-line has some wonderful history to this day. Mass comes from the catholics-the death, see this was the beginning of the catholic church...so when u say merry x-mas it means the merry death of Christ..see the Roman leaders tried to kill the early church out..it grew so Satan said lets become a church so he could deceive the church...yes he has ..but Jesus has a church that is studying to show theirself approved & has come out of this pagan worship. Please study this..did u know the pilgrims did not keep this day..it was FORBIDDEN..did u know the Amish do not keep this day? Where is Jesus name people..NO one that is called by his name can justify the worship of this day...Christ was NEVER in this day...Does Grace cover pagan worship...NO! Repentance yes!
Jesus said IF you continue in my Word then are you my disciples....walk in the light as HE is in the light....also go to u-tube & watch the video the orgins of x-mas...u noticed I would NOT put Christ into this...I refuse to pollute his name in this....he is to holy to do this....there was nothing merry about his death!

I do not worship any day, I worship God. But I do appreciate, and am thankful, that God loved us so much He sent His son to die for our sins.

Might be less confusing to kids if left up this time and just not get one next time.
