But no, I did NOT defend the anti-GWB jokes on the forum when they were being told. I wasn't a member then. Just a thought, though.....there are several politically liberal members on AFF (I am not one of those, by the way). I never see them say this stuff. Interesting.

By the way, I guess I have been classified as an Obama basher. But let me tell you, he was excellent with his jokes last night. Great timing and really was better than Leno in some ways. (Of course he needs to be good at something.... NOW I just couldn't pass that one by!)

Nothing wrong with that joke at all! I didn't vote for him, don't agree with hardly anything he does. But he is MY president that I pray for, and I highly respect him and his office.

Yep, here it is. Glad I'm not the only one you thrash!

Like I said, you have every right to object and not like the jokes. I give you that. It is just sad that you can't give the same latitude.
BTW, Barak Obama does NOT have my respect. I respect the office of the President of the United States. However, I do NOT respect the man who currently holds that office in any way whatsoever. That being said, I regularly pray for him and I do not pray for his demise. I also do NOT despise Nancy Pelosi as you have accused me of. She is a sorry excuse for a public servant, but she gets my prayers as well.
As you mentioned your church staff loathing the Nancy Pelosi thing....my staff thought it was funny. They didn't think there was serious note about it and that is what partially made it funny to them. Different strokes for different folks! I'll defend the satirical humor just as much as you attack it. LOL!

NOW... I wish I could say I respect Obama. I respect the office and think it should be highly honored. I respect the position of President but have major problems respecting Obama. Why?
Let me touch on it briefly. It's hard to respect a man who said America was not a Christian Nation. (And I'm not interested in debating the merits of it being a Christian Nation. I just think he should respect our country and the stand that it has taken all these years as a Christian Nation.) Then he over inflated the Muslim population in America. Look at the video that was posted here on AFF showing all the many ways of praising that he did for Islam. Over and over he quoted from the Koran. Talked about the leaders of Iran and all they've done for the world. Then he snubbed a pray gathering that was held at the White House.
And I guess then another thing is how many "untruths" (being kind) that he has involved himself in. If you think I am over stating this just go on the internet and Google "Obama Promises Broken" and "Obama Lies." If only half of the accusations are true that's too many for the leader of our nation. It use to be that one lie from a president disqualified him to be president. Not any more. How can you honor him and respect him when he refuses to be truthful? And anybody that says he has not been untruthful, is not being truthful. But, I guess it's okay to lie when you're respecting the president. I think not! And I'm not calling anyone a liar. Just making my point!
That's my reasons and I pray for him and his family and hope no harm comes to any of them. But I do wish he'd hurry up and get out of our house!

"Different strokes".....boy, you're not kidding! Thanks goodness. "Loathing" wouldn't be nearly a strong enough word for the way they reacted to your "joke".
I find it incredibly sad that you cannot respect another human being simply because he does not share your political views. This is the root of the political chaos we now have in Washington. The old days of a "Gentleman's disagreement" are long gone, in essence, because basic human respect is a lost concept. When we have played in the mud of hateful rhetoric so much that we can no longer respect the Commander in Chief, the President of the United States, then we have completely missed the ENTIRE point of the adversarial and Checks & Balances political system that was created by our constitution. You want me to give the "latitude" of tolerance for your jokes? What about giving the basic "latitude" of respect for the man who leads our country? According to the bible, he was put there by God, you know. It's immensely sad that you can't respect the man that God placed as our president.
No wonder Washington is crippled by gridlock and chaos when we can't respect our president.

As far as "Respect" goes, I'll just refer you to what I just said to MOW. I find it troubling that all of us, as followers of Christ, can't respect the man that God put in office. That IS what the bible says, isn't it?
As far as his lies and googling? You can google the same thing for any president and you'll get a lot of material. You're not going to pretend the Bushes didn't break promises, are you? GWB often used foul language, broke promises, and made questionable decisions concerning the war. Do you also not respect him?
As far as this being a "Christian nation"......according to the numbers, it isn't. Less than half of the population confesses faith in Christ. I've heard plenty of pastors say that America is no longer a Christian nation, and really, was it ever? Agree with him or disagree with him....are those grounds to not respect him? I just don't see it.

I will tell you for the LAST time.......the Nancy Pelosi joke was NOT mine. Sam posted the joke. I mentioned it later but Sam was the originator. And for your information, the time you are talking about when political disagreement was "gentlemanly" was a time when most of the country was committed to the principles of the Bible. George Washington would have as much respect for our current president as King George! Completely different situation.
And NO I will not respect the man who holds the office of President. However, the scripture is clear that ALL authority is from God. The office of president gets my respect. Barak Obama has done absolutely nothing to earn it. Just give me a president I can respect and I will get behind him. It's been a while since we've had that kind of leader. But I'm not going to follow anyone who is leading in a direction which is contrary to sensibility and common righteousness. That's my choice.
