True.....I would say UPC in TN is moderate, but not overall. I remember when I was warned at JCM NOT to go to TN, because there were TV's in the saint's houses! (We had five in our home in Illinois).

And what about that deserved a laugh? Do you honestly think the UPC is not moderate?

Once again we have evidence that perspective matters. From where I stand ya'll are liberal and much of the UPC isn't far behind you except in their teaching of the new birth. I am a moderate conservative and others on here are strongly conservative.

I think everyone likes to think of himself/herself as moderate. Even the ultracons on here are liberals to the Amish or Mennonites. It's all a matter of perspective.

The problem with the UPC in terms of returning and/or remaining is that there is never a "FISH OR CUT BAIT" defining moment. They are neither right nor left on the continum and they cannot agree. Therefore they have their culture to define them, their look, their "separation. They have their rules, but even they acknowledge they are disobeyed and of none effect! What are they left with? An objective culture that keeps people in the separated social group.

The only momentous and decisive decision making time was in 1992, and there could very well be another on the horizon. But still there will be those who continue to hook bait, and tie flies, but they will never toss their line into the water.

THIS is why it would be difficult for me to return. It has become their nature, and a person's or more certainly an organization cannot change it. Maybe the Israelites wandering in the desert for 40 years is a good example. Only the new generation will enter the promise land.
