Pure truth absent of the love of God is a bright, bright day of sun-bathed light. It is beautiful to look upon. But, without the heat, the warmth of the same sounce of the light, to warm the earth, the ground is frozen hard, the trees are leafless, the grass is dead and the earth is unable to yield its fruit. All the light of truth is lifeless without the heat of the love of God to spring forth the life of the seed in the earth.
The man contends not for truth, but instead, he is contending for only his perception of truth...an IDOL...his own idol. But, don't tell him that. He would think thee mad.

It would be the "idol of false knowledge." It is in the same context that we limit God just to what we know of Him. We also limit our seeking of God and His truth just to within our self-taught parameters. So, it is easy how our false knowledge becomes an idol to finding out what truth really is.

I agree.
He cannot see his own piece of brass for beholding and magnifying another supposed piece of brass. It is amazing the pieces of brass that men can craft in their own minds, each called truth that is lifted upon a pole for all to see. But, for some strange reason, it brings no life, healing or cure...
They loudly claim with boistrous exhuberance, "No snake like our snake!"

Thanks.
But, there are others that hold a different opinion. My own opinion is divided and discredited in that regard.

Get a copy of a UPCI manual.
Eddication is evil in some circles.

Sister
I edited my post, evidently after you quoted it - maybe I should have left it. Would you mind editing the quote - I don't want to be too sarcastic.

I believe this Pittman is the son of the deceased pastor of Ocean Springs, Miss. who formerly pastored near Bogalusa, La. If it is the same one, I've not seen him since he was a little tyke.
