Christ said we would do greater things than walk on water, too. you see any of that happening yet? Well then, did Christ lie? This pov is understandable, but childish. God cannot interfere in free will, and unfettered free will = death. You are ignoring that your brother was one of God's children, and He knows better than you do.
I'm reminded of a childhood friend who hated his father for killing a puppy that had no chance to live, got mangled by a mower...not that your brother=puppy, of course, but the parallels are pretty compelling.
Sigh.

Did God fail me when he let my brother die of cancer?
It's always rough when loved ones die. My nephew died in a truck wreck and my niece was murdered. Both very young.
I cannot blame God. We all have an appointed time to die. Some young, some old. The important thing is to be ready for it because it is sure to come to all of us.
I am very sorry for your loss Timmy.

How could anyone ever tell if God failed them or not?
God has never failed me. Even if I did not like His answer...or non answer to a prayer, circumstances always ended up to be in my best interests.
I suppose Paul, Peter and the rest of the Apostles could blame God for their torture and beheadings, but they chose to Praise Him to be counted worthy regardless of their circumstances.
I do not know what the future holds for me or mine. But I do know He holds my future however that turns out. I could sit here and type all the terrible things that have happened to me, but there was always a silver lining and I have to move on.
I know life is hard for many of us. God bless you Timmy and I mean that sincerely.

Thanks.
I don't blame God, either.

He was a Christian. I don't think he believed he would be healed, but was hoping.
At the time of his death, you believed in Christians going to heaven right? do you take no comfort in the thought of his being in heaven?

Yes, that is the hardest part about someone leaving this life for the next. When you know they are with Jesus, that is a great feeling, but it doesn't take away the pain of them being gone. That is what really hurts. They say time is a healer, and I suppose it is of sorts, but my grandmother passed over 18 years ago, and I still miss her so much.
I understand it fine, and you know it, so this becomes self-serving.
You got the point, which is that if you are proceeding from "if" here, we can't really have a conversation. My premises are different than yours.
Not only do I believe that God--if He in fact actively did anything where your brother is concerned, which i doubt--will never fail, or lie, I also anticipate a..."death" much more horrible than your brother's, well prolly not but more horrible sounding, from following this belief. And I've had lots of pastors tell me different; that I would fly away, tra-la, and God would temporarily suspend free will to save my domain when the going gets tough, or any number of other things that they surely genuinely felt to be true.
I don't even hold it against them--they are not my source, and I have been amply warned of this in the Bible, paraphrased "lean not on your own understanding, and take what anyone tells you with a grain of salt--come ask Me about it, and trust the spirit's guidance. Do not listen to men."
