The KKK stuff wasn't part of the original complaints anyway.

I am giving the student body president a pass on that-- I think he was mistaken and he publically apologized for his "misstatements."

Yes, lies.
Dude, he was a student and said he was going to kill black students-- went as far as telling other students to "stay home".

Anyway.

I don't think these students are protesting for no reason at all.

There is a reason as to why they feel that this is the only way to get attention brought to the situation. This is another example of what happens when leaders don't lead.

Neither were the death threats from someone in another state.

Saying it's CONFIRMED and "I am working with...(agencies)"..is not a "misstatement"

When people say that they mean they got caught in a lie and want to back out. Where there is smoke, there is fire.

  1. There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  2. The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
  3. Every sinner must repent of their sins.
  4. That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
  5. That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
  6. The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

The KKK stuff was from this past week.

"Mistaken?" The dude tried claiming he was working with the UM pd, state patrol and national guard. That wasn't a mistake. It was a calculated lie.

Just like "hands up, don't shoot" was a calculated lie. Just like Dorothy Bland libeled two officers and wrote a calculated lie.

I know you're black and desperately want to defend these people, but cmon man. These aren't mistakes. These are outright lies.

Call a spade a spade. Because it is what it is. These people are desperate for attention, and they will say and do whatever it takes to be recognized. Truth, facts and evidence be damned.

From another campus, from almost 100 miles away! He was arrested at a Residence hall in Rolla, MO, 94 miles away from Columbia, MO.

Re: University of Missouri Protests

Like you said, "where there's smoke, there is fire".

If this whole thing is based upon lies and things that never happened, it will come out in the wash.

For now, I am inclined to believe that this isn't another Duke University incident unfolding.

I am thinking there is some validity to all of this.

The college President admitted that he has not responded properly to past complaints. Others have said that things have been simmering there for a while before all of this.

I am thinking there is some validity to their complaints and it is good that the school is paying attention to it now.

I just wish it didn't take all of this.

What I was trying to say was the time to deal with these issues is Before they happen. Let everyone know no acts of racism will be tolerated at this college. Doesn't sound like much, I know. But making the effort to have a fair campus for all students goes a long way with student moral.

Re: University of Missouri Protests

Here is the release of the MU report of the racial incidences at UM. Determine for yourself if this was ignored by the university.
http://thefederalist.com/2015/11/12/...-racial-slurs/

Interesting that there was also a complaint from a white student that was called a racist name by a drunk student, and it was dropped.

We're all screwed as long as standing up to the zealots can be successfully portrayed as being racist/facist/bigoted/prejudiced/etc. For real justice to have a chance, people need to be able to expose these zealots as idiots and make it stick. Otherwise we're all just stuck hoping sufficient appeasement will bring "peace in our time".
