It's just what comes to mind when we look at a person. If a man's hair looks effeminate, THAT determines the issue, not whether it is cut or not.

So you think "Long hair" means "Feminine hair"? So would this hair on a woman be in violation of scripture, in your opinion?

I believe Paul was not even focusing on hair, anyway. It was the veiling. How it ever became hair is beyond me... I guess there is an aversion to veils amongst North Americans. Which proves my next point. The truth is that the veiling was a cultural thing alone, and has no application over here where unveiled women would not equate shame. And since it is cultural, it is not applicable to us in North America. So the issue is moot to me. Check out 1 Cor 10, and see how Paul spoke of cultural things and continued into chapter 11 telling people to follow him in CULTURAL ethics. Since that cultural ethic is non-esxistent here, then it is a moot point.

The thing that is shameful to a woman of any culture, though, is not short hair, but a BALD HEAD, as Paul stated. The woman in that pic you showed does not look masculine to me. SHORN OR SHAVEN means EMBALDENED, not trimmed! lol

I'm with you. Among all the "Rules", this chapter was the final frontier for me. None of the other rules had any biblical foundation but the cut hair thing seemed to and I struggled with it until I dug a little deeper. But I do know people who allow cut hair on women who are strongly against the hairstyle type I showed you, and as well, place strong limits on the length of men's hair.

I guess if you are a kid that makes me an old man.

I agree with you that the woman in the picture does not look masculine, however, I think the "shaved head" that Paul spoke of as being a shame was also cultural for that time. When he said "nature" I think he was talking about the natural world/culture around them.

That is a good thought. Most people think their spirit ;looks like them. If they are short and chunky then their spirit is the same. I heard a preacher telling his congregation if they were black here then they were going to black over there.
No wonder we're call sheep. Follow anything as long as it sounds like a bell.
