I think we all agree that some changes are necessary. But there are things going on all over the place that aren't in the news and are SSI. Coadie is essentially ranting and raving over things he doesn't have knowledge about. We don't know if al Shabab issued a threat against airports in the United States. We don't know how many local bomb scares there have been, unless it's leaked to the media. We don't know when actual "devices" have been found, unless it's leaked to, or discovered by the media. And yes... you can bet your bottom dollar many things are not released to the media because it's a security issue. Also, few realize how many are on American soil with connections to groups overseas, have motive, and have issued threats. Not to mention the greatest danger... domestic nutcases who "think" they are part of some jihad or who "think" God called them to do something crazy. We fail to realize, a lot of times when security postures are elevated, it's because of a domestic who has issued some kind of threat because he's upset that he lost his job or his wife left him for a pilot.

Since the average flier doesn't know the threats, they might feel they are just blindly following unnecessary orders from the government. The government needs to inform the public WHY they screen the way they do. Instead of saying, get in line and consent. And if you don't you are going to have more invasive searches. I think people don't want to be treated like criminals when the travel.

This is what I agree with, reasonable explanations. Maybe if people are more informed they would react better to searches.

Re: TSA dog and pony show security screening

From what I understand this is all due to the so called, Christmas bomber from last year. Yet, the decision to to enhanced searches just came about a few weeks ago.
That doesn't make sense.

They survey people that don't fly. of course the people that don't fly don't complain about airline food either.

It had to go to committee first......that's our government in action.

National Security cannot work that way.

Let's say you have an informant in al Shabab. The agent discovers that they are planning on having females board planes to destroy them using explosives that are implanted in her breasts. So now screeners are briefed to physically check the breasts of any woman refusing electronic scanning.

Now... if they notify the general public, al Shabab is going to know that their information was leaked. Now they are going to go on the rampage looking for the informant. Should they find him... he will die.

Why? To make some sassy American woman who doesn't understand what kind of sacrifices are a part of being at war.

Great Cindy, now our informant is dead. How do we keep tabs on al-Shabab? How will they now retaliate? They will most likely liquidate and vanish. Why? Because people have forgotten that we are at war.

Everyone is starting to act like Liberals. lol

Let's imagine that we are at war and that we put our strategies on the news and all the secret information we have. We'd never win the war.
