Why do folks have a silly notion about being UPC only if licenced?

I do get it, but I was "UPC" and I had the same stinking attitude that is encouraged in protecting standards.

While sitting under the pastor in Billings Mt, he made it very clear unless you held the membership card he could not use you, it was a way of telling if you really held their teachings and were faithful to the tradition of the UPCI, plus it was a way of checking in with your old pastor on how faithful, true you were towards them, like a report card.
When we lived in Santa Fe MN, the pastor made it clear because he held a lic and membership card with the UPCI, he would not have a T.V in his home, but the rest of us could own one if we wanted, he had no issues with T.V or with those who didn’t hold to the dress standards, as long as they didn't hold a card plaguing their faithfulness to uphold the UPCI teachings . I've never held such a card myself, I believe one should only give an oath unto God and His truths, nor should we swear to up hold traditions and by-laws to an organization set up by men, that by passes and overrules what is true grace.

What I understand if they haven't changed it is,you can be a UPC Evangliest with out a licence.I have preached in UPC church assemblies and am not licenced.

If you not are a licenced minister of the UPCI, but consider yourself a "member" of the UPCI by local church membership, try going to a sectional, district or General Conf. and....
