water doesnt wash sins away its through the blood, havent read anything about the blood on this thread.
I believe strongly in the sinners pray, its only a beginning. at that point they are saved.
God knows their heart.
far as holy ghost, you need it in this life but not to go to heaven, I will not need it there, I need it here in this life! amen
I prefer to firmly belive in things like SCRIPTURE.

The identification of who is saved is clear: Acts 2:21 (The prophecy of Joel)
They did, in Acts 2:37 and then they asked, what shall we do now? Peter then gave them their next instructions for starting their life-long relationship with Jesus and the brethren, and the instructions did not stop there!
the error that many make is to use a single scripture as the basis of any doctrinal position. All scripture must agree.
Jesus speaking of the Old Covenant told the religious crowd that they search the scripture (Old Covenant) and think they have life when in fact it was a testimony of Him. Therefore, the new cannot contradict the old either.
The cross did not change the heart of God because God says He never changes. The cross only changed the relationship between man and God. So to try and isolate one scripture to form a doctrinal position is gross error. Let the Word interpret the Word don't try to make it fit your theology
Then why were they baptized? And why did Jesus say "Those that believe and are baptized, will be saved, those that are not will be damned."?
If you repent and God is faithful to forgive you and cast your sins as far as the east is from the west, then what do you have to wash away? No sins, they are already cleansed by the blood. Baptism is the burial of the old carnal nature...that part of you that caused you to sin, that drove you to sin, that lived apart from God.
When you bury him (water burial) you are raised as in the resurrection to walk in a new life in Christ...
then you need to fill that new man with the fullness of God so that you can operate with the power of God....infilling of the Spirit
Sorry you will not operate with the power of god or you would be god..LOL
Read your Bible....you might start with
1. 2 Cor 4:7 - what is in you (assuming a Spirit filled believer) is for the purpose of manifesting the power of God
2. Ephesians 3:20 - notice the "according to the power in you"
Hmmmmm, maybe God figured out a way for us to operate in His power without being Him. Oh wait, even the secular world understands this...they have managers, CEO's, Exec's who have authority to use the corporate assets (which are not their own) manifesting the power the corporation through their individual efforts.
Wow! That is really far fetched to think God works through His people

I think that this is taken out of context in the Bible, IMO. Of course it is my opinion though some others might share it. I honestly believe that God DOES change. When the word says "I change not" I don't believe that it means that literally God NEVER changes. Look at how thins have been done for ages by God. He is constantly changing. I believe that the verse is actually saying if I could paraphrase, "I NEVER change the way I operate. I am constantly changing things because I change things things don't change me." With that being said I don't believe that God changes like a human changes...He is TRUTH--truth is always truth. Humans change from one belief to another from good to bad. God doesn't He changes his way to reach people and changes the way He moves. Pre-Pentecost He didn't do the things that He does now in-as you said-His relationship to us. God does change you see it through scripture.
Typing it out makes it difficult to explain. Hope I made it clear what I am saying.

Uhm, maybe I need to read it again ... after drinking coffee or something. It made no sense to me. LoL
God is ALWAYS changing that is His mode of operation. When the word said "I change not" I believe that it is saying He never changes His mode of operation He is Always changing things around Himself. This is because He doesn't always use the same methods. He is constantly moving and doing new things, like Pentecost. His mode of operation does not change this is what He meant, IMO, when He said "I change not."
