Re: Cat question

Trent, let me share a little story about my great grandfather.

Many years ago, our family owned thousands of head of sheep on open range (back before barbed wire fences.)

Stray Dogs would from time to time find there way into the area and could really play havoc on the herds.

One day, a stray showed up in my great grandfather’s yard.

Grandpa Wellborn caught the dog and tied a wire around its neck.

The last thing that anyone heard was grandpa walking the dog back behind the barn with his .44 pistol in hand saying

“Here pup, I’m going to make a good dog out of you!”

Re: Cat question

It may even be something like this, as per my husbands WISDOM -
The cat may get mad when he doesn't get ENOUGH attention ( they can be sooooo demanding ) and gets back at her, this way., we've seen this happen as well, we've had one poop right in the middle of the bed, as a "get back atcha" strategy, and once they start doin this its really hard to break them of it, just get that smell OUT as soon as possible, or it'll be back to that same or nearly spot to do it again and again.
Maybe that tip about the GREEN stuff will help, haven't tried that one yet, but try Natures Miracle available at pet stores that works OK., but nothing short of enzymes treatment will get it out of carpet, 'cause the pad must be removed, and then the concerete or wood under it must be treated as well.
CATS can be GROSS! Their spray is akin to skunks, nearly impossible to get rid of permanently. *sigh*

Another reason for keeping them outdoors if at all possible, if inside use the best cat litter you can get., I have never let my cats roam all through the house either I keep bedroom and bathroom doors closed., only kitchen, and living rm and den.

We have had, and still have several cats I guess I'm now an 'expert' on them; and when they get to a point of no return,
like just recently I put TIGER out in the garage with RED even though they don't get along, 'cause evidently he {TIGER} has matured to the "reproducing" mode and the litter sooo STUNK like a SKUNK..{it hadn't been THAT bad before} it affected the whole house, I couldn't stand it anymore, [he is on the list to get neutered],
you cannot change them you just have to readjust things.

Putting your cat OUT is best, seriously 'cause they are not prone to being told what to do or not do., very stubborn beasts., they just don't understand human ways, they are just being what they are - CATS., BUT if its too cold outside, perhaps temporarily in the garage [if you have one] only? [run a small heater if you have one]

Cats are cute at times, but mostly strong-willed, narcissistic creatures., and I strongly believe that they are happier as GOD meant them to be., outdoors., its in their nature to stalk, hunt, run, climb, play and things that they can't do as readily (and without bothering humans) inside. I've seen the difference in mine as they morph from inside cats to outside cats.
All 3 of our cats are "fixed" and have been for as long as we have had them.

This is something that just started that is why I don't understand it.

I found something on line that I can get at PetSmart so I think I am going to get that and try it.
It is called Feliway....there is a plug in that I think I will get and put in my daughter's room.

Thanks for your input.

I wondered about the Natures Miracle stuff.
We don't have carpet but we have had to throw some rugs away.
We have hardwood and tile floors.
I wish I had a room that I could lock them up in....I have thought about shutting her door when we leave.

Re: Cat question

We have our third cat. So far he's been good, but he is allowed to go outside and that helps get rid of his excess energy.
Our 2nd cat ( lived 19 yrs) didn't like our son. He would go in his room and pee on his clothes; nothing else. It was very annoying but we felt our son shouldn't have left his clothes on the floor . The cat knew he was being bad .

Re: Cat question

As usual, China has the answer to the cat question.

If you plan on keeping it in the house...The best thing is to try to get you daughter to keep her things up and behind a closed door.
that is what I was gonna say....keep the door closed....maybe turn the cat into an outdoors cat (where I believe they all belong anyways, not in the house)

Hardwood??

LOL! Maybe he doesn't do this but once they pee on the wood, that 'stain' won't come out., we've redone wood floors and no matter how much you sand, it goes down deep.
I am glad most of our house is tile, it is the best thing (or vinyl flooring) if you're gonna have indoor pets., oh and no "fabric" furniture, ours are leather..although one cat did ruin our recliner with his claws.
Even when fixed some males will still be able to spray., one of ours does., its better to get them neutered while very young., if possible.
