Church boards, makeshift church boards and influential families within the local church have learned to play politics and usually go into cahoots w/ a district board to save the local church from the "evil" pastor. Keeping the franchise alive in that area ....

Re: Apostolic Assembly News-surprising footage
I even recall stories, if true, where a bishop came to a church and told the congregation their pastor was not UPC anymore and how he did not love the truth then asked the congregation to go with him

Apostolic is defined on AFF as:
- There is One God. This one God reveals Himself distinctly as Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
- The Son is God himself in a human form or "God manifested in the flesh" (1Tim 3:16)
- Every sinner must repent of their sins.
- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Our assistant pastor had a phone call from a friend who told him that he had been having dreams, visions, and whatever else you may want to call it about the church and he said it is his opinion that the next 24 months is going to be the worst the APOSTOLIC/PENTECOSTAL churches have had. He said he believes that in the next 2 years there will be a great change in the church and that people will find out who their friends are and will find out who really loves God. He also seems to believe that at the end of that period there will be a group emerge that is less divided. There will be more fellowship among the groups. To me it seemed he was saying that all the groups are going to experience it and that the ones that come through it all will be more united with each other no matter what organization they are with. Then he says there will be great revival.
I am only repeating what I had heard in a conversation with our assistant pastor. He never named his friend but he did say the guy had been trying to reach him for a few months and had not been able to.
I personally hope that he is at least partially right. I would love to see more UNITY.

I meant just in the sense that the younger generation of upcoming preachers and pastors seem to be less stuck on standards issues as the previous generation was/is. I think this can cause a bit of a rift in some churches where the older generation thinks that the younger generation of pastors and leaders is compromising, or "going soft" on standards.
I've seen this happen in some assemblies, where it causes murmuring among the saints. I don't think it'll necessarily split the denomination by any means, but I do think it could be a source of contention in many UPC churches (and districts) over the next 10-25 years or so.

Re: Apostolic Assembly News-surprising footage
The younger generation must keep ethical standards, try to abide by protocol and keep decorum in making some of these changes .... I'm not sure this video montage and format achieves that ....

O yea, I see.
There is in fact already a major under currrent of change
going on now. I think it's only a matter of time. I have talked
to a lot of younger ministers who are only bidding their time

some of its an emotional response to the way
their pastor is being treated. I can see where they
are coming from

Many have admitted this to me also. JUST WAITING.
One positive aspect of the younger crowd is that they are not hearing or could care less about the inner feuds that have existed for years withing their org or between fellowships.

Agreed.
This generation is visual ... it's their strength and weakness.
