I don't know how much more damage they got after 9:15pm last night, but I talked to a friend of mine in Baton Rouge at that time last night. She said that Baton Rouge had gotten more damage from Gustav than from any other hurricane before (Andrew, Katrina & Rita) because Gustav had longer periods of higher sustained winds. I haven't talked to her this morning, and had planned to attempt to reach her later this afternoon. She told me she would be busy most of the morning and I didn't want to try then. I'll let y'all know if I'm able to reach her.

Re: Hurricane Gustav

Scott, yeah we had a couple in Mobile Co and in Baldwin Co. They kept interrupting regular programs to tell us where the tornadoes were.

We are getting some side effects of it now... our high went from being predicted at 95 to maybe 88 and its kind of cloudy and a 50% chance of rain other than that nothing big here..

I have some friends in the Marksville area who had some flooding and one in the Alexandria area who lost part of their roof... and one in Lafayette who also got some pretty bad flooding... but thank God that was the most of the damage for those who we knew there.
we never lost power...PRAISE THE LORD!!! we are still getting tons of rain. we had very high winds. everything here is good...other than all this rain....lol

Re: Hurricane Gustav

I drove in to Alex from Oakdale this morning and there is a lot of flooding. WE have water standing in our front and back yard, although it not very deep nor are we in danger of it coming into the house. Trees are down along with power lines. A lot of street flooding in Alex, glad I have a hig riding 4X4 Ford F150........

We got power back last night around 10:30 PM. What a relief. I rigged up a Marine battery and a 750 Watt power inverter to run a fan to circulate the air while we slept. WE had no damage to the house that I can tell.

Thank you Jesus!!!!!

Re: Hurricane Gustav

Glad to hear the good reports - hope everyone else is doing okay too!

It finally made it's way to Memphis - we had winds yesterday and rain today.
