He served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State under three different administrations, Nixon, Ford and Carter, while also working under Reagan and Bush senior, and still works as a consultant for the Department of Defense. A former US Navy Captain, Pieczenik achieved two prestigious Harry C. Solomon Awards at the Harvard Medical School as he simultaneously completed a PhD at MIT.

Karl Rove said something yesterday that was interesting. He said that waterboarding never produced real credible info from detainees. He said they will say anything under those conditions to get you to stop. He said the real goal of the enhanced interrogations is to break their will. He said once they are broken, they become cooperative. He said once KSM was broken he was asking for white boards and was holding intel seminars giving the US valuable info about Al Qaeda and its operations.

That eas eye opening for me. I always thought the EI was about getting the to tell what they knew. But according to KR it was about breaking their will so they would cooperate. Interesting.

That has always been the problem with torture. If you torture someone that has no information and yet they insist he does and continues torturing him, he will make stuff up
